Bridging the Tamar - Visitor and Learning Centre Community, Learning and Volunteering (CLV) Officer - 12 month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

Based at Tamar Bridge Office, Plymouth, PL5 1LP.
Salary £29,636- £32,878 p.a. full time pro rata based on a 30 hour working work

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to manage the day to day running and programming of the Bridging the Tamar Visitor and Learning Centre which was officially opened in June 2019.

Open seven days a week, the Centre has been largely funded by a £272,700 grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The Centre reflects the amazing feats of engineering of the Tamar and Royal Albert bridges and their historic role in the social and industrial development of the South West.

As well as attracting visitors, including the general public, the Centre was designed to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) as part of a wider programme to encourage young people across the area to consider future careers in these fields. The project team have worked closely with local partners, including schools, universities and community organisations, to develop a learning and events programme and a formal schools workshop programme.

The successful candidate must have a passion for learning and community engagement and experience of delivering heritage and community projects.

The post is responsible for:
 managing the day to day running of the centre
 planning delivering and evaluating the National Lottery Heritage Fund Activity Plan,
 managing the recruitment, development, performance management and engagement of a group of thirty volunteers to support these activities and line managing a member of paid staff.

Occasional weekend work or additional hours may be required to support one off events and groups visits.
